And the winners are...

We understand that not all of the 5 finalists have an adjustable angle, but we still believe that the finalists are the best choices for us because of their ease to manufacture. We took a second look at the designs suggested by the community and decided to add a new design to the mix, which means one more FIT 132 PE Kayak will be added to the prize pool. We hope you understand that the cost of the rodholder is also one of the main requirements and is a very important part of the product. Using many different plastic injection moulded parts and CNC milled metal parts makes the rodholder too expensive and our finalists are the best mix of all these needs.

TRAPPER CANOE ROD HOLDER SYSTEM by andrea.garuti-1

TRAPPER CANOE ROD HOLDER SYSTEM

Outstanding design that does not stay in the limits of the challenge and takes one step forward. We really love the modular construction and the possibility of using more than one rodholder. The rodholders are universal and could be used with very many different kinds of rods. The adjusting of the rodholder has also been made easy. The parts used in this design are easy to manufacture and are also recyclable. Overall a great design that will fit the Trapper brand very well.

Minimal Bamboo Rod Holder by ben.smeaton-2

Minimal Bamboo Rod Holder

The design looks amazing. It is easy to understand how the rodholder works and the adjusting has been made simple. The use of the bamboo section is a great idea and makes the design different from others. This also makes the rodholder usable with all sorts of different fishing rods. Most of the components are easy to manufacture or could be bought as standard parts. The mounting system looks also pretty universal and problably could be used on other canoes aswell.

Challange rodholder of wood by filip.peeters

Challange rodholder of wood

We really like the usage of just one bolt/nut to adjust the rodholder. This makes the usage much more simple and lowers the number of components. The rodholder looks practical and easy to use. The mounting system to the boat looks simple aswell. No plastic parts are used also which is good. The mounting system would need some testing to be sure it is strong enough. Overall a good looking and practical design.

Rodholder Challenge Entry - Wood Composite v2 by bp

Rodholder Challenge Entry - Wood Composite v2

A design was overlooked by us at first, but thanks to the Community we added this one to the winners list. Very minimalistic design that does everything that a good rodholder should. It is adjustable and fits most of the fishing rods we use. The mounting system is pretty interesting but would need some testing to be 100% sure it would work. We like the usage of the knob also, it gives the rodholder a "clean“ look. Most of the components are pretty easy to produce or could be bought as standard components.

The rod holder 3 by nouamane-1

The rod holder 3

The rodholder has only three components which is great. It is also very easy to assemble and add to the canoe. The only material used is wood which makes the rodholder 100% recyclable. This rodholder would problably be best fit for smaller fishing rods. We are concerned about the manufacturing of the parts – they require a lot of CNC milling. Also the rodholder is not adjustable.

ROD-REV by ivo.alberti-3

ROD-REV

We like the design and the simplicity of the mounting system to the boat. Many different rods could fit this rodholder. The Trapper logo has also been displayed very nicely. Low number of components is also good and makes the rodholder easier to use and assemble. The parts require alot of CNC milling to produce which makes the rodholder expensive to produce. The rodholder can not be adjusted.
