This is the model made in the tutorials at http://usingsolidworks.com/members/landing/become-a-solidworks-surfacing-expert-in-just-a-few-hours-2 You will find 3 free videos on the start of the project or nearly 60min of instruction on how to build this for free at the link above...
Great model Ben! Really detailed and REALLY lightweight. Love the way you organized the body features into folders. Getting ready to go through your tut as well. Thanks.
11 months agoAwesome, would you be so kind as to upload a STEP as well?
11 months agoVery nice job Ben, I had a look at the first video and the third video ... very well done.
11 months agoTank-Ewe Terry! The real meat and potatoes is in the back quarter panel.. That was a huge pain in the arse to make.
11 months agoYou are welcome,:) I bet it was it looks good I went on line to see if I could find some blueprints on a 54 nash ... not there. My dad has a 54 nash and I was going to model the car for him.
11 months agoOh well I guess I will do it from pics.
I am working on phase 3 of the 1952 FL motorcycle right now and as soon as I finish it I will start on the car. It will be my first time doing a complete surface model, I only use surfaces to do cuts and things of that sort. Doing a bike in all parasolids is a pain also.

Like the nash metro?
Here is my best find on that
11 months agoThanks Ben, he has a ambassador but the metro is close just needs to stretch it about 10 feet and put a back seat in it.
11 months agoIt does have some of the same lines though and it could be altered to be close if I put a pic behind it and make it fit the pic.
I appreciate the effort, and I will see what I can do with it.
Where are you from Ben? I am in South Carolina in the US.
11 months agoVery cool Ben! Ill have to try to make it myself sometime. It looks like a challenge but fun.
11 months agoI am in Calgary Alberta Canada.... Love the Carolinas! I have some great friends there, in my mind the best of the best in the U.S. come from your area :)
11 months ago@Adam Pohl the STEP file is here: STEP version of the Bugatti Veyron
11 months agoCongrats Ben!
11 months agoThe model looks really nice. Just a quick tip on the other version: you can add up to 3 versions of the same model to this very version – then people can find all the versions from the same model page.
11 months agoGorgeous render!

11 months ago+1 Robert! You mean a $1.7mil car doesn't stop on it's own? cancelling my order... sheesh. :)
11 months agoMargus cool Ill do that next time but once the file was created how do you ad revisions?
Robert, This was a model to show how to surface a body. I was not concerned about the calipers or the fine detail. Although I will be adding detail in the future
11 months agoThhhbbtt!!!! I guess if I hit the edit button I can add more verisons... sorry for the silly question.
11 months agoHi Ben, great to hear that you will add even more detail to your car! cant wait!!!
And yes, hitting the edit button gives you to possibility of adding more versions and deleting old one's.
11 months ago@Robert, truly awesome renders. Looking at stuff like this, I really start to miss the days I modeled and rendered some things myself.
@Ben We don’t have any version control, so best bet would be to just delete the old and upload a new one in the model edit view. And you can always add info about the editing history in the description, so people will know that you’ve added a new revision.
But the version control thing would be pretty useful, will put this idea into our ideas bank for the future.

10 months agoYou open the file, and look at it.
10 months agoIf you like it then good.
If you don't like it delete it :)
Ben, ben, ben. He left off the last bit... "How do I know if I like it or not, without opening it?"
We all know he's going to have to take it direct to 3D print, put some sauce on it and taste it... all there is to it really.
10 months agoSorry my humor was not in my comment.... I did mean it to be funny.
10 months agoAnd I recommend a good horseradish sauce with the car :) and a glass of 10w30 :)
