This is a custom bike designed by a fellow GrabCAD member, Gary Downer.
Gary started collecting information (pics, web sites...) on things that he would like to build a motorcycle with for the past two years. He contacted me here on GrabCAD about putting those things he came up with together. I took him up on the project and started about 120 days ago working on this bike.
The bike is a drop seat style frame supporting a 330 rear tire with an old-school S&S Pan Head engine, turning a Tauer Machine split belt drive primary that is driving a Baker RSD Torquebox transmission and a chain final drive.
There is a lot of attention to detail displayed through out this bike, Gary knew what he wanted and he and I worked together to put his dream together for him.
We both hope you like the bike.
Great job man, but how did you align the chain and mated it to the sprocket?
2 months agoThanks Bernard...I mated the inside of the chain with the face of the sproket using distance and then mated the rollors concentric with the sprocket teeth.
2 months agothanks, did you make a path to mate the parts of the chain together?
about 1 month agoOh, not with this chain...I knew what the path of the chain was going to be so I drew the complete chain as a part and mated it with the sprockets. I did not creat the chain as an assembly and mate each link.

6 months agoAre the brake discs custom or off the shelf stuff?
You're the king of chopper Terry!!!
6 months agoThanks Navneet.
@Flomaa, thanks for the comment, I don't know about that I just drew what I was asked to draw.
6 months agoThanks Indrek, you like those bars...I do too. The brakes are new they have only been around a few years now. They are called Perimeter brakes by HDW Motorcycle Custom Wheels.
6 months agoHi everyone, I thought I would add two pics of the bike with a rider "DUDE" on the bike.
Thanks to Gee for DUDE he worked out great.
6 months agoHi Alistair, I know you like the old stuff! I do too but the old school chopper gets my blood rushing also. Thanks for the comment about the detail in my bikes, I am glad that other people out there understand why I put so much effort in my bikes.
6 months agoI like some of the cars here in GrabCAD...but I am into motorcycles more than cars.
Thanks Guy

5 months agoSweet, and the mannequin looks so good on it.
5 months agoTerry your Panhead looks gorgeous.I really like your work.I have a 1990 FXR under construction.Would you give me some tips to deign an oil tank for my bike?
5 months agoTake care
looking good
5 months agoImpressive renders
@ Abhijeet, Thanks...yea I like dude too...I think he shows people that do not know a lot about choppers how someone rides a chopper.
@ Papadopoulos, Thanks...yes I do like bikes as you can tell most of the stuff I have uploaded is bike related.
@ Wolf, Thanks...yea dude is a hit !
@ Franco, Thanks for the nice comment...sure I will try to give you some help. Did you notice that I have an FXR custom frame, an FXR drive train and an FXR custom trike in my models? They might be some help for you too.
@ Radu, Thanks...the renders for this model take a long time to do. Each one of them are at least 1.5 hours and a lot of them are over 3 hours render time.
5 months agoi have downloaded model for my student like sample great work
5 months agoAt first sight, beautifully worked, but the chain of transmission must be finished
5 months ago@Aleksey, Thanks for the comment...I hope your students get something out of it.
@Adrian, Thanks for your comment...about the chain, that is not all that is not complete. The file is so big that it is difficult to work with so I chose to leave out some hardware and of course the pins in all of the links of the chain. There are 65 assemblies and 355 parts in this model...and the complete file size is 328meg...So I took the liberty of choosing some components that I could leave some features out and it not effect the over all look of the model. I think I did a good enough job on the chain you knew it was a chain.
5 months agoI hope this explains why the chain is the way it is and that you understand why.
ok. was just a joke
5 months agoOk Adrian, I thought you might be joking .... I thought you might like some statistics about the model so now you have them.
5 months agoAny way thanks for your comment...I am always glad to see someone take the time to comment on a model everyone in our group here on GrabCAD likes to see comments from others about their models.
very good.
5 months agoFor this reason some think my rating is wrong.
I'll trade places with you.
Thanks Silvio...I was were you are in the rankings for a long time, I got a lot of exposure while I was on the first page. It was good for me bringing a lot of people from all over the world to my website and to me. I have made lots of friends all over the world because of it too...so it is time for other people that have contributed like yourself with lots of great quality models to be in the spot light too.
5 months agoSo....to all of those that think your rating is wrong, they just do not understand what the rating is for. You deserve to be there don't let anyone say different.
What a true Gentleman you are Terry.
:)))))
5 months agoTerry thanks to reply it.i noticed already your FXR drive train, which i love it as like the rest of your work.Amazing the results you achieved with FXR trike.I am looking forward to have some advice from you.Thank you
5 months ago@ William, thanks:))))
@Franco, I also have an FXR closed primary drive train that I can upload if you would like it better than the one I have loaded already. It is the one I drew for the FXR trike. It would be closer to the stock FXR that you have. Let me know.
5 months agoAgain..I comment :)...Beautiful and Wonderful model :) I wish U c'd teach me to ride this :D ....I am spell bound and awestruck :) :)..Gr8!!!
5 months agoVenkatasubramanian, it's not hard to ride the main thing is turning it around...it takes a wide turn to get it turned around. As far as the ride through normal turns and highway riding it rides just like any other bike.
5 months agoThanks for the very nice comments.
I don't know much about bikes but this one I like....good job. I like to get a model of the dummy on the bike is that possible? thanks
5 months agoQuestion: Why the rear wheel spokes are moved to the left?
5 months agoHi Adrian, I was wondering that too until I looked closer and realized that it is the reflection of the spokes on the chrome inner wheel.
5 months agoGreat work Terry.. As always ;)
5 months agoterry great job! very beautiful model!
5 months agoHi Terry, I open the file 17x12 Rear Rim-1.eprt and noticed that the spokes holes are moved to the left. I opened the file 60sp 330 Rear Wheel Hub-1.eprt and is similar.
5 months agoHi Adrian, Yes they are...I meant to delete the holes in the wheels because they were used to get me close when I laced the spokes for each wheel. See I did not have a wheel to draw these from all I had was a picture of the wheel straight on, so these are a close look a like to the actual wheel. Also these are not a standard lace pattern.
5 months agoThanks Cemal and Fernando.
5 months agoawesome model terry, great job
5 months agoTerry,
5 months agoAny chance I could get a SW2010 file? Step, x_b, or native?
@ Muhammad, thanks for the nice comment.
@ Danny, sorry this is a custom design for a client and he was nice enough to let me put some renderings of it with the edrawing up on GrabCAD.
5 months agoWell, you do beautiful work(both CAD and true fabrication).
5 months agoI checked out you site and was very impressed.
Thanks Danny, I was going to say that Gary doesn't mind if I put some of the purchased components up on GrabCAD, and I plan to as soon as I get them ready.
5 months agoYou can down load some of the components and draw your own.
Nelson, I am sorry I missed your comment....thanks guy. As for DUDE you can get him from Gee here on GrabCAD, that is where I got him from.
5 months agoGreat job! Everything fits just well and nice colors !!
4 months agoThanks Tilo...I know Gary is glad you like the color scheme.

2 months agoThanks Paul !
2 months agoPerfect mix of old and new! I really like it. Nice Job
about 1 month agoThanks Firas, I can't take all of the credit for the look of the bike. Most of the look was designed by Gary and I engineered his ideas into what you see. I think he did a great job myself, picking componets that complemet eachother...I just put them together to make the bike look like he wanted it too.
about 1 month agonicely thinked gary, i love it.
about 1 month agoWhat a cool design!! I love it.
about 1 month agoGreat Work.
