This model was inspired by a bike that I have wanted to build for the past year or so. Using Terry's motor for the heart, I pieced together a standard/naked bike that draws a lot from sportbikes. The idea is for some old school American muscle with the latest-and-greatest updates. I really tried to replicate the look of the PVM Buell X1--which I included a picture of in the Zip Folder--without totally copying it altogether.
Starting with the most 'patriotic' engine, the 1000+ cc V-twin, I chose a compact frame with a steep rake for adept steering. I only provided three mounting points for the motor to make it easier to install, but a top cross beam and mount would be easy to add.
The front end is something straight off of a supersport to make sure the bike is agile. Forks are upside down USD and radial brakes with 6 piston calipers, the largest available. Front rotors are drilled till they resemble swiss cheese, giving it a classic speedmetal vibe. Both wheels are a forged design to lower weight, but 10 spokes resemble spoked wheels so they don't look too showy.
Rear shock has been optimized by going with a single shock design and setting it at an angle to eliminate the need for a rocker and increase responsiveness/reduce part count.
IT WAS HUGE, BUT, NOW INCLUDES STEP FILE
Hey Chanson, Terry here I see its tomorrow where you are it still is the 28th here. I like the bike!!! Lots of work ha? I know it was...pulled the file up great job...I like the pics too. All you need now is some mid controls, I have some drawn if you would like to look at them...that is what the hole in the primary is for. I just got to find them haven't used them in about 3 years.
over 1 year agoHey Terry, thanks for the comments! Haha, I knew you would be the one to spot that. I had some ideas for a couple but running low on time with the holidays and all. Don't worry about hunting anything down I don't want to create any work for you but I do appreciate the offer. Now that I know where the mounting points are though, It will be a lot easier for me to measure them out, thanks for that.
Glad you like the bike, I am a little tired of sport bikes and how they all look like clones of each other, but I like the riding style, so I tried to make something with the custom look and sport bike characteristics. Hopefully it can appeal to both crowds.
over 1 year agoChanson, great work, as always. Especially like the pipes and golden engine in the other version you uploaded. I'm not sold on the seat, though. It reminds me of a sponge or something, and the "sharp" edge on the side cannot be too comfy. I'd keep the line of the seat straight to fit the overall simple and clear lines of the bike.
But that's nitpicking, as I said - excellent work. Now, want us to figure out a way to upload all the parts separately into the library without much manual work? :)
over 1 year ago*The first time I posted, the link did not work*
Thanks Siim, you are dead on about the seat, I was attempting to curve the edges, but it is quite a hard operation and I have to design it up from scratch again. About it being a sponge though, that is funny. I guess I was copying a friend, he made a seat for his bike, you can see some photos here:

……we called it “marshmallow” XD
A way to automatically load each file into the library from an assembly?! Ingenious idea.
over 1 year agoSecond link is "http://d.pr/DKSV" and please have a look, great custom. He has won 2 best of shows with it already.
over 1 year agoNice work Chanson! I love naked bikes, there is just something about them that is so inherently bad a**! :)
over 1 year agoSiim, how do you like the new seat?

Thanks Scott, my thoughts exactly. All muscle, no superfluous bodywork or accessories. Who needs turn signals?
over 1 year agoMuch better. Liked the white version you linked to, too. But I should't really comment on real motorcycles, I'm a Vespa rider myself :)
over 1 year agoOh, going all Italian on me? I guess I will have to upload an Aprilia next.
over 1 year agoI LOVE THE NEW FEATURES!!!!!
over 1 year agoArrow navigation works to, just hit right-left arrow to jump between the shots in thumb view. We'll get a nice navigation between the large images next year. That's… next week :)
over 1 year agoOooops. Default screenshot does not seem to be working.
over 1 year agoNice Simm, I was just going to suggest that :) Also is there a way to keep the file there so you don't have to try and find it again?
over 1 year agoHas anyone else had any problems with uploading multiple screenshots and changing the default shot?
over 1 year agoWhenever you upload new screenshots it changes your default image to the newest image..
over 1 year agoCongrats Chanson for your render, it's really cool !!! ;)
over 1 year agoCongrats Chanson, now you can do some more rendering when you get home. talk to you soon.
over 1 year agoRemembered your bike when I saw this tricked out Magpul Ronin http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/motorcycle-news/50-50-limited-production-chance-for-magpul-ronin-ar86869.html
Check out the front view, that is one angry looking radiator where a headlight should be. http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/motorcycle-news/50-50-limited-production-chance-for-magpul-ronin-ar86869/picture354278.html
11 months agoRockprincess, nice work though small problem - the front tire is just a bit floating in the air…
11 months agothanks siim. i will fix the problem.
11 months agoNice! The colors look pretty real good.
Siim, the bike is about to pop a wheelie ;).
11 months agoThat Magpul Ronin is one I've seen before, very unique. I like it too that you do not see any customs made from the newer Buells, so it's unique in even that respect.

Hi, thanks everyone for the comments. Pedro, how about some pictures of your bikes? Andy, that render makes it look like a true custom show bike with the flowing lines. Selcuk, thanks for the compliments, the wheels I wanted to be as accurate as possible.
