This release is a simple and light assembly made of an injection molded "base" and water jetted or laser cut parts that are pinned/spot welded together. Projected weight for a FRP pocket and aluminum handle is 80grams.

very elegent Matt. Keep in mind the very low volume (ca20 vehicles /40 handles per year) when deciding on manufacturing methods and materials. How does the finger load compare with current ?
@ Jon Gunner : thanks for the new idea of how to share files:)
Jon, i forgot to mention there should be a torsion spring in there on the hinge. I played around with a linear spring but i believe a torsion spring can hook onto one of the aluminum bits and rest on the stand off on the CF body and be easy to install. I am not sure what sort of spring setup is on the other end of the cable so a spring may not be needed here.
I went back and double checked my numbers on leverage and I am actually 65mm away from the pivot where the original is 45(straight line) so the original has a leverage ration of 4.5:1 and this design is 5.2:1
