The light source has been added with the solar and battery pack. Using a Cree ML-E and Carclo bubble optic, a much more useful and drier light source can be utilised alongside the 2L bottle. The mechanism will clamp onto the roof and prevent the solar cell being rippd from the roof, the batteries located under the roof and easy access for replacement.

Ah very cool. I like how you got around the problem of the waterproofing by avoiding it entirely. But, the water diffuses the LED light, no? That's important.
I think any LED module permanently immersed in water will eventually allow ingress. So simplicity says take it out of the water :)
Check out the spec sheet for the bubble optic from Carclo it is 94% efficent.

It is small PC moulding designed to disperse the light evenly over 4-8m^2 area and would be more efficient than dispersing the light randomly through the water and plastic bottle
