The pivot press is a coffee or tea cup with an integrated press. Designed to go with you as you travel and explore. This press reduces the number of separate parts & makes those parts out of durable materials to handle the outdoors.

The pressing motion is unique as the strainer pivots from nesting outside the cup, 352 degrees around, to nest inside the cup. Achieving this fit and function was challenging (seemed much easier in my sketches) but rewarding.

The shape of the cup is a product of the nesting and pivot functions. That shape helped inform the direction I took for the twisting cut patterns in the strainer.
