This is my rough draft entry for the Saare Yachts deck vent competition. I still need to drill some holes and perfect a couple of parts, but the idea is there. Brass covers, stainless steel inners, rubber seal surface. Pull down on the T-handle to compress the spring, and then turn to engage the teeth on the T-handle with the teeth on the interior cover plate. I'm open to criticism, so let me know if there is anything I can do to improve this. Enjoy!
Note: I ran analysis on the brass cover and stainless waterbreak (deckside), and found that the factor of safety for a 350 lb person placing their full body-weight on the cover (which I estimated at approximately 5 psi when dispersed across both feet) had a minimum factor of safety of 11.5.
I think that the flow slots on the deck cover may be a tripping hazard, so I may need to reshape them.

10 months agoand it is possible to show the inner part?
I was in a rush to get some basic renderings done before my English class haha. On Monday, I can do an exploded rendering and upload the JPEG. When I do that, since I cheated on the rubber seal by extruding a secondary layer and coloring it black, I will actually make a seal and all the mounting holes, etc.
