This is a model I made for my employer’s Christmas card. The pine tree’s needles are a great example of a custom PhotoView 360 displacement mapped appearance. The branches are simply modelled as tubular sweeps. I then applied a displacement map of a black and white polka dot image. By specifying the length value of the displacement map, I basically defined the length of the pine needles. I think it turned out looking pretty good.
