The underground irrigation system is quietly and secretly working delivering slow amounts of water to the roots all day long.
It works in pressure differential so a soggy ground will not get more water.
There is an initial installation where it has to be buried under the grass or plant bed but after that requires no maintenance.
Water is delivered to the roots directly in a passive manner.

I have an urban back yard, with an old house. Have you given any thought as to if this would use less water than a traditional pop-up sprinkler system? I love this idea!
