This design incorporates a centrifugal brake driven by a modified hinge and pin arrangement.
Normal opening of the door operates with no additional force by the crew member or passenger. In the event a high wind causes the operator to lose control, the sudden acceleration of the door will force the brake arm to swing upwards and engage the brake pad and arresting further motion.
