Can SolidWorks save in any 3D model file format that's publicly documented?

By Andrew Payne on 03 Oct 17:56 5 answers 783 views 2 comments

Are any of 3D output formats supported by SolidWorks publicly documented? I need to save a model and read it into another program for additional processing.

DXF is not 3D, and STL loses all of the feature information.

Parasolid, iges, and step files can be exported. All three lose feature history as they are dumb solids, but they should import into most programs.
