how can i hollow out/cut extrusion?

how can i hollow this part out in sw2012 and leave the top face solid? or cut an extrusion from the top to the bottom on an angle? im very new to solidworks im just messing with it. thanks

  in this model i leave the bottom surface as solid.. removed the top surface..
