How do you create a cylindrical sheet metal part in solidworks

I need to create a cylindrical part in solidworks. I tried using two cylinders but could not flatten it. Is there a way that one can create a cylindrical part that can be succesfully flattened.

You need to leave a small gap. Start with an arc that goes almost all the way round.

  afterwards you can add hemming into it for proper cylindrical surface
