How to create a read-only assembly ?

By Hardi Lepiksaar on 26 Oct 08:40 3 answers 602 views 0 comments

I was wanting to create a read-only of an assembly model that could be posted on a website, downloaded to be viewed, but NOT able to be edited or have its fields expand to prevent people from being able reverse engineer how the parts are designed.

upload as STEP or IGES? The only item in the feature tree will be "Imported" data based on the surfaces or curves. That is probably the best way to do it.

Save as eDrawing, but make sure you disable the options from the Options button on the Save As window. Of course, it can be open only in SolidWorks, so if you want everyone to be able to open them, save as STEP or IGES.
And CAD models always can be reverse engineered.
