Do anyone know how to instal I-Deas NX in Windows 7?
All the process goes Ok, but it crashes when the license daemon is going to start.
You can't. The TDM/Orbix isn't designed to work on Windows 7. NX-Ideas V6.1 is the first release that will work on Windows 7 (equivalent to V15).
I-DEAS NX 12 working great using XP mode and it was pretty easy. XP mode is a Microsoft virtual machine free download if you have windows 7 pro or ultimate.
A couple of note about this subject:
1. XP mode works and probably the easiest to get working but XP Mode graphics card is a virtualized 8MB, not ideal for CAD.
3. VirtualBox or VMware would be preferred since both can virtualize a graphics card for CAD programs, specifically, a 256mb graphics card with OpenGL 3D support. The difficult part with these is installing XP on them unless you have a extra license around.
I have IDEAS-12 running on VirtualBox and it is a night and day difference in performance compared to when it was on XPmode.I would have prefered VMware but it cost some $ and VBox is free.
The problem is not with the Nx I-deas software but with the licencing manager, Windows 7 fails to run the licence as a service, there is a work around, when the flexlm server fails, do not cancel the message, but copy all the files in the UGNFLEXlm folder and create a new folder UGNXlm and paste the files there, then you may cancel the error message. then there is editing to be done to the licence file but its a process, PM me if help is needed.
Dean, I have the same problem with I-deas 5.0 but I have not UGNFLEXlm folder. Could you write the files I need to copy ?
