Can you wrap on a sphere in SW 11 or 12? I know you can't in 10. Unless someone knows a trick in 10? I'd love to know.
Maybe this file can help you, is another workaround but in this case you have all non-spherical faces aligned with the center of the sphere.
Now SW 2010 file, listen to w.wolf advise and used thicken cut
Hi Aaron I am sure you can't as it does not work with Inventor and I asked some one if it would work in SW as they were an SW user and they said no....
It was really nothing. I was trying to wrap an X over a sphere and months ago I was trying to "wrap" it and make it harder than it needed to be. I just made two revolves to make the X. It was one of those DUH moments.
LoL'ss yeah I think we always
do that make things harder for our self
:)))
Glad you worked it out in the end.
Please see if this is what you want...

Hi Don, I would be very interested to know how you got the rap to work with SW as if you can get it to work with SW then you will be able to get it to work with IV and there is nothing I have not tried to get a rap on a sphere IV says it is not possible LoL'ss
Could you dumb that down to a 2010 file? :) I posted this for 2011 only cuz I knew there was no solution in 2010...which I have.
This is a brilliant solution Mr. Anneken, it isn't the same as wrapping on a sphere but it's really close.
I wonder why I never thought of it.
I did just do this method, maybe the same as what Don did? Can someone verify?

What you have is similar. In your case the cuts will all be perpendicular. In my case that cuts are truly "Wraped" and the cuts will be tangent to the sphere. I tried to put up a Tutorial but it crashed???
Did no know this would be so popular. I tried a tutorial but it crashed. Attached is zip file with tutorial jpg. Should work in SW 2010
