  The words ‘Certified SolidWorks Professional’ look good on a CV and can provide ‘proof of competence’.

  I was told, by a SolidWorks dealer, not to bother with the CSWA exam and go straight for the CSWP.

  I am a CSWA and I believe it depends on the company you are in or trying to get into. I see several job postings online that specify a CSWA or a CSWP. Regardless of which one is being requested of the candidates it shows the prospective employer that you are willing and able to set and achieve goals, learn more about your chosen profession and that you are doing what is needed to keep your CAD skills sharp while between jobs or contracts.
