  On the right hand end of the ribbon there is an up arrow next to the 'Getting Started' tab. If you hit that a few times it will cycle through the options of ribbon size.

  I don't know of any other way unfortunately. But I have attached a print screen to this answer just so you can double check that you're hitting the correct button. If you hit the big one it should cycle through, the little drop down one will only give you options to minimize the ribbon.

     I was also looking in the Applications options and no luck there, would be nice to know if there is another way right enough :P

  Maybe try this -
  Right click on the ribbon. on the menu click ribbon appearance. You should be able to pick from normal, large. small etc.
