  Right click on the Sub Assy you have put into the Assy and make it FLEXIBLE.

  thx...william. tried that before but it didnt work. but removed a couple of extra constrains and it worked perfectly.

     Hmmm strange why it did not work, but glad you have got it sorted now :P

     The extra constraints likely removed the degrees of freedom required to move the hinge.
