No matter how I go about creating a simple sphere in SolidWorks whenever I try to save, the program crashes. I even tried creating a sphere and a cube as separate bodies and a save worked but when I deleted the cube and hit the save button SolidWorks crashed again. It's not a complexity or file size problem because I have created models that are hundreds of time more complex than a simple sphere. Any ideas?
My computer specifications are:
CPU: (1) 1.80 GHz Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160
RAM: (2) 1024 Mb DDR2 Dual Channel sticks of RAM
Drive: (1) 7200 RPM 500 Gb Hard Drive
Video Card: (1) 1024 Mb ATI FirePro V4800
Have you restarted your computer/Solidworks? that would be the first place to start. Then try the following
Step 1
The registry file often gets corrupted and may need to be reset. Close Solidworks. Go to run and type in regedit (if you're windows 7 or vista open up the start menu and search regedit). Once you have regedit open, open up the hkey_current_user folder, open up the software folder and rename the SolidWorks folder to something like SolidWorksOld. Then open SolidWorks back up and try to recreate the issue.
Step 2
If that doesn't work, you want to try to repair the installation from within the programs and features, and then try to recreate the issue.
Step 3
If neither of those options work, uninstall and reinstall Solidworks.
