Tutorial on creating forming tool in sheet-metal in SolidWorks.

    Here is the tutorial.

    1. Step 1

      Start SolidWorks in part mode.

      Medium

    2. Step 2

      Top plane>>Sketch.

      Medium

    3. Step 3

      Draw a circle of 50mm diameter.

    4. Step 4

      Under Features tab choose Extruded boss/base.

    5. Step 5

      Choose Draft and enter an angle of 30º. Click OK.

    6. Step 6

      Under Features tab click Fillet.

      Medium

    7. Step 7

      Select the top face of the part and keep the default radius. Click OK.

    8. Step 8

      Now we have the body of the forming tool. Now we have to define the sketch used for defining the forming tool position.

      Bottom face>>Sketch.

      Under Sketch tab click Convert entities while selecting the bottom face.

      The base will be converted. Now exit the sketch and open the Design library from the task pane. Point to forming tools.

      Click Autoshow to fix the task pane.

    13. Step 13

      Now drag the part1 from the tree view to the design library lower window.

    14. Step 14

      Enter a name for forming tool & Click Save.

      Now we can use it as forming tool.
