  SolidWorks is easy to use and makes parts that communicate with others and work. I am not a full time user and I can make what I need in Solidworks!

  Maybe because there are like, 1.7 million SW users worldwide, and the program makes it easy enough to do your own tinkering side projects along side your work projects, easy enough to make it worth while. I spend 5-7 hours a day doing it for pay and almost that many at home for play.

     Inventor has spent years trying to catch up to Solidworks...and it still hasn't.
