Just reaching out to know why my content is being ghosted from the main search? All of my models comply with GC guidelines. I deal with this at least once a year...
Hi, I haven't checked in detail but I'm guessing it might be due to weapons being automatically blocked by our system.
Hi.
I have forwarded your concerns internally to the team responsible for the Community. Hopefully they can come up with a solution to this.
As for a quick answer: our Community guidelines is against 3d-printable weapons but not other weapons. Our ads provider (Google AdSense) is against any kind of weapons. We have several automated content checks to block printable/dangerous weapons, but often other weapon models also get blocked. We are aware that there are many hobbyists and weapon-enthusiasts with their designs on this community. We need to decide where to draw the line and update our system if we need to.

Hi,
This is an issue we are currently working on. You can follow the discussion at https://grabcad.com/groups/grabcad-community-user-group/discussions/models-being-ghosted-from-search for updates.

Since I do not agree with the removal of some of my models on your site, where there are many thousands of similar models, I demand a complete restoration of my deleted models. At the same time, I am not interested in the fact that the deletion occurs automatically. In this case, delete everything from everyone. I'm waiting for your reaction. Greetings from Anatoli Metzger

Hi,
It seems your other models are hidden from the search. Our systems might auto-block most weapon related models.

hi. why do I see only 4 of my 9 models in the search. When I register, I see everything. 🙁
I have faithfully followed the guidelines of this site since its' inception. None of my CAD models are functional designs by themselves. They require technical knowledge outside of what is merely provided in 3D to make "work". Moreover, what is the definition of a "3D-printable weapon"? And what is the definition of just "weapon" as it relates to GC and Google guidelines?
I'll give you my definition of both just so we're clear where I stand:
A 3D-Printable Weapon is a device which, if created, is fabricated using additive manufacturing and has the soul purpose and function to inflict harm against another living thing.
A Weapon is a device which has the soul purpose and function to inflict harm against another living being.
CAD models and drawings by themselves are not weapons. CAD models and drawings in their purest sense, are communicative tools used to convey dimensional information. Absent pre-existing knowledge by the end-user or manufacturing instructions such as specific materials, heat treatments, welding instructions, riveting instructions, spring pressures, pressure tests, or any other general data not expressly implied by the CAD model or drawing, it is fundamentally impossible to create a functioning weapon.
No matter how detailed a CAD file might be, it is simply geometric information. Regardless of what that geometric shape takes, a weapon it does not make.
Per your guidelines:
10.Do not upload dangerous content. We consider "dangerous" any models that, when printed, could cause physical harm to other people. This includes 3D-printable, fully-functional firearm designs like "The Liberator". This also includes dangerous or untraceable firearm modifications like silencers, lower receivers and drop-in auto sears, as well as any other components that transform semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic ones.
That is all that is mentioned on the subject. Absolutely NONE of my content violates these rules.
Meanwhile...
What is easier to 3D print and "cause harm to other people", a gun, or a knife?
Aside from all of this, I've also noticed that many of my models, despite being visible, are being suppressed from search, when tags are used, or even the direct title of the model.
If you don't want me and my content here, just say so, and I will gladly remove my content and delete my account.
Hi. I totally agree with you. I will exhibit my models over and over again....There aren't many of them until I get "fired." Success
Referring to your correspondence with me and mister Steven Kiley
, I want to ask....is it impossible to harm a person with this?
It has now been two weeks without resolution. When should I expect to hear whether my content will be reinstated, or not?
Hi. It's been going on for almost six months and there's no result. Posted 5 of my closed models again.
It's been years of this problem occurring, and they used to have a chat function where someone would help you right away. That was abandoned, and now we are left with only sending emails that MIGHT get answered a month after you send it...The boys who sold GrabCAD to Stratasys got their payday, but boy did they utterly destroy the community they cultivated.
Still no updates yet, will remind the internal teams about this.
I'm another one who has been hit by those restrictions. Already began to back up my models in other still free sites. I'm not going to wait endless for an answer from people that already shown laziness in solving a problem.
Atm we're waiting for an answer from other departments as well... Sorry for the wait.
In the meantime, for your convenience, I manually unhidden all your hidden models.
Done!
Thank you. Please keep me informed as to the decision that is made.
Sent you a private message.
I believe this is resolved now? :)
What will hapen in the future, when Google enforces its policies as part of their ad serving procedures?
One of two things:
1) Either GC will continue to enjoy the revenue stream from google, and block ALL weapon-related content.
2) GC goes back to being an actual serious resource for CAD models, regardless of content, and tells Google to fuck off.
If you were to bet, take the first option.
