Senior Design Draftsman

I've been working in the Australian Oil and Gas Industry as a Senior Designer and Draftsman for about 5 years and for 6 years prior to that as a Designer and Draftsman for heavy road transport manufacturer. Before Drafting and Design I did and apprenticeship as a blacksmith which lead on to general welding and boilermaking. Deciding that I liked the more specialised side of welding I then worked for an Engineering firm as a specialised welder/machinist. In my time there we were contracted by the Defence Forces and Mining Sector.
Education
Stanthorpe State High
Didn't really enjoy the traditional academic subjects at school, much prefered the wood and metal shops and the technical drawing classes, which was all paper and drafting boards back then. Did a trade as a Blacksmith and then some night classes to get me up to speed on current drafting techniques and industry expectations. Plus 20 years as a tradesman dealing with all sorts of interesting challenges.
