Involved detailed study about fuel pumps and fuel injectors and solving engineering problems using mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, thermodynamic or pneumatic principles. Performed fatigue and harmonic analysis of components using ANSYS in addition to performing non-destructive tests to test the components for surface defects.
Worked in the quality control department and inspected the manufactured engine cylinders and crankshafts for defects and tolerances. Investigated mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems in the engine assembly floor in addition to performing supervision of installation and adjustment of mechanical systems in the plant.
• Part of the team Formula Jeppiaar that produced a FSAE race car that raced in the event SUPRA SAE INDIA 2013/14. • Aided in creation of computer aided design of the vehicle chassis and components. CATIA and SolidWorks. • Performed frontal, rear, side impact and CFD analysis for the vehicle. ANSYS. • Computed all design calculations involving the Powertrain department (engine calibration, gear reduction ratio, required engine torque, ideal & real speeds).
• Designed and manufactured a prototype impact attenuator to be installed in Formula SAE vehicles to withstand frontal impact collisions. PTC Creo. • Drop tests and compression tests were performed on the attenuator. • Performed structural analysis in ANSYS for different shapes and materials of the attenuator. • Publication submitted. Won the best paper award at an international conference.
• Developed 2D and 3D designs as per customer needs. AutoCAD and CATIA. • Investigated mechanical failures and maintenance issues in the assembly floor. • Created SOP’s and performed BOM data entry. Analyzed customer designs and feedback to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements.
• Developed a novel design of a wind based energy generating kite. AutoCAD. • Computed energy density calculations for varying kite geometry and wind conditions using mathematical equations. • Design proposal submitted for the United States EPA P3 National Level Student Design Competition 2017.
