One added plane
Three relatively simple sketches
One surface loft
One thicken surface
Less is more.

We all must start somewhere.
You may have noticed the Styled Splines... not many know about them. Look it up in SW Help. They can be much easier to use once you understand them and guarantee a perfect surface if used properly. Conics come in handy too.
Delete the Thicken Surface... create a Planar Surface by selecting sketch 4 or the edges on the open end... Knit the two surfaces into a solid.

I take that back, it can't be done with the profile he has. It would have to be a cylinder profile.
That's certainly one way to do it, but you have no control over the profile.
that's true , for any complex shape some features simply will not work.
did you try doom command ?
