Align a Manikin in Catia V5R20 ?

Hello ,

I am doing a project for the University but is the first time that I am using the module of human builder.

My intention is to fit the Maniking with the measures of this suit. ( see screenshot)

Could somebody tell me how can align the manikin ( if i can move ) and then fit into this suit?

Sorry, I didn't understand correctly. Here the way to move the entire manikin.

Scale the sketch image in order to fir the manikin size.

You can also change the centile of your manikin, but you will be likely to have a «child» instead of a scaled standard adult. You are better of with scalling your sketch.

Sadly, you can't use directly the manikin surface. At least, I have no idea how to do it. I know you can create a solid from a movement, but I don't think it will give the result we are looking for.

The way I would proceed to make the glove would be to place a few points on articulation(as close as possible), depending how detailed you want it to be, and then to draw lines to make a skeleton.

From these lines, you will be able to make planes, more lines, sketches, etc.

Finally, use the multi-section, blend, corner radius, etc tools to get your glove done.

You should be able to get a nice looking glove this way. This is quite an interesting project.

If you want to isolate each fingers individually, you should use geometrical sets instead of many parts. It will be easier to manage.

Also, can you share with us the way your managed to use the manikin faces?

Hello again,
You can open the file Iron_man(assembly).CATProduct
and check the transformed surfaces ( see the screenshot )

Click on the picture and you will see the tree with the geometrical sets and the surfaces created.

Last step is go to the workbench Quick surface reconstruction
and click on command Automatic Surface.
Then you can select your mesh and a new surface will be created.

Hello !

Yes , I can see how powerful is this workbench , but my questio is about how I can move the manikin , because is not possible with the compass.
So, how can I do it ? Which module I have to use ?
My intention is to align the manikin with with the blue prints

Hi,
I got the idea and i am scaling the manikin ( see attached file 2)
Now I wish to check how to draw the gloves .. Do you know if i can extract surfaces from the Manikin ? any idea bout how to draw it in IMA or GSD ?

Hi again,
I can draw some surfaces on the hand now !! .( see attached file)
Is it better to draw one finger (anular as example ) in one CATPart and then assembly all of them as a CATProduct?

Of course ,

Here there is the first methodology I used ( all in Catia )

Second method you need to use Rhino and transform surfaces in *stl format

First method:

Extract surfaces from the Manikin Go to DMU Optimizer you can get a true surface (looks triangulated)

Follow these steps:

1) With a manikin in a CATProduct go to the DMU Optimizer workbench
2) Create a SILHOUETTE or WRAPPING feature.
3) Perform a SAVE AS *.MODEL of this feature
4) Open the *.MODEL file
5) COPY/PASTE AS RESULT the portions you want in to a CATPart.
6) These are surfaces you can work wih.

Enclosed you will find the file in model format.
