Yes, You can.
Select Open File dialog, as File type select dwg or dxf, then click on the Options button at the bottom of the Open File dialog. This will open the AutoCAD to Solid Edge Translation Wizard.

...it`s depends of versions...for example, ST3 opens every AutoCAD `till today, V19 can not open 2007 AutoCAD .dwg, so you have to "save as" drawing you want to open in V19 as Autocad 2000.dwg, after it follow Toths lead...or simple in draft environment click and drag .dwg, but on this way you may experience imperial-metric mess up...so is better in "options" set everything you want (simply follow wizard as Toth explained above), notice in second windows "units" button, set this as you want (Inches or millimeters), save configuration file when you prompt and you are good to go...click and drag working from this step further...hope it helps :)

Solid Edge 2D ST4 has just been released and it seems to do a great job with it. Just select the file type as described above. Let us know if you have any problems.

Yes you can, as explained previous select open in draft in the drop down menu select DWG and the run the option wizard and save the results to a new file, This new file then remains as the default file for opening DWG files untile you change it.
Every time you upgrade the version of Solid Edge you have again to run the DWG option wizard

I have a problem with opening .dxf files in ST4: every dimension is 70 to 80 times larger! Any suggestions?
