Hi there.

The majority of the difference between CATIA V5 and V6 doesn't lie with the design tools themselves, the interface in the design workbenches is virtually identical, plus a few new workbenches and enhancements. It can be modified in the same way as V5. The big differences lie in the data management side. CATIA V6 requires an ENOVIA database for it to connect to, with database searches and linking all managed within that database and accessed directly from CATIA, rather than some other data management program (There are no more local files). It might sound a bit onerous to start with, but it solves the various headaches associated with linking documents together in various ways in a file/folder system (No more hours spent in the Desk command recreating broken links for a start).

Get in contact with us and we can tell you more, there's a lot more to the data management side of it than I could explain in this comment box.

Basically V6 is V5 with embedded integration to ematrix based data management. All modeling tasks are exactly same. (few new workbenches and some reordering, but all V5 stuff is more or less there in same way as in V5) This keeps learning curve as very low, it is actually rather easy to enter from user point of view. Unfortunately the default configuration of system as out of box is pretty crappy, each company has to make pretty major system configurations to get full benefit from it. (I am on mission to get that changed, just for the sake of it!) there are more good things in it if you dig deeper.

I think both have same working. As for as drawing tools are concerned there not enough noticeable differences.
