Engraved lines on non-planar surfaces on Solidworks
Hi to all, i'm a manufacturer of resin accessories for modellers (mainly aircraft) and use SW with good results, I would like to in the future also design and build complete models of aircraft in scale but until now have not been able to find a system to track the features engraved panel lines with precision on complex surface like the fuselage, I enclose some CAD images of mainstream manufacturers, for example, I know that using other types of software such as NX or Catia and so I think that SW is not suitable for this purpose. The final work, as all of my products, it will be printed on rapird prototyping machines.

Thanks but I already tried all the features several times, projections, spline on surface, wrap etc.etc. maybe it could work a workaround composed of various functions, one of the problems is that these panels must be positioned precisely with measures.
Hm, than let us try something very unconventional. If you mark on the surface the contour that you need by using the "split line" than you will have a "template" of the future engraved line. The second step is to make a 3D-Sketch with a spline which follows the line of the split line. The third step is to insert a plane (connected to the spline). On this plane can you generate a circle (i don't know how is the behavior of a quadrangle, twisted trajectory perhaps). Now can you cut the circle along the spline.
