Exporting from SolidWorks 2014 to Rhino 3

By Trevor Sheen on 17 Dec 17:15 1 answer 713 views 0 comments

I'm having trouble exporting from SolidWorks 2014 to Rhino 3.

I need to open files in Rhino 3 for machining purposes, however, when I export as a STEP or IGES, Rhino seems to unwrap and add surfaces.

Anyone know of a clean translation method between the two CAD packages?

Rhino in general can read a lot of different formats. You can always try a few others, though STEP, IGES, and OBJ will be your best bets.

I don't know if Rhino 3 supports this, but newer versions of Rhino can actually read Solidworks directly, according to their website: https://www.rhino3d.com/formats/
