Having some trouble with mating a ball and socket joint

Still a beginner here so forgive me if there's and obvious answer I'm missing.

I've modeled a ball and socket joint for a project I'm working on and I can't seem to get the two parts to mate together in an assembly. I attempt to mate the inside surface of the socket joint to the outer surface of the ball and am only given the option to lock them together, which means that the thing wont rotate.

Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever used a ball and socket design or mate in many many years of using SolidWorks.

My fist thought is to make a sketch point at the center of each sphere. Then mate the points together to be coincident. That would simulate the resulting motion.

This recent post on the SolidWorks forum covers the same topic. I did not read all of the replies, but it looks like they came up with an option that most people liked: https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/211428

When uploading assembly files, you'll need to also include the part files which it uses.

Welcome to GrabCAD. I look forward to seeing some of your work.
