How do I mate two elliptical sheet metal parts in Solid Edge ST9

I would like to assemble a front elliptical plate to a elliptical sheet metal tank to create water type tanker.

The mate technique does not seem to work.

Please help

I have attached a short video clip for clarity to my request.

Help will be appreciated!

When modeling these sort of tanks as sheet metal assemblies intelligent use of planes when modeling the parts can simplify the whole process. This model may help you with making these sort of tanks.

Hello Lionel.

The first method that I will go for mating elliptical sheet metal face (cover) to the elliptical tube is by mating the primary planes of the subjects (face & tube) - these planes run along the axis of the tube (i.e.: axis of the tube lies on these two primary planes). And to finally fully-define adding one more coincident/zero distance mate.

I hope I am able to help you out in this.

Edit: I have attached a video for what I meant in SolidWorks, as I don't have Solid Edge at my end. But I hope something similar can be done in Solid Edge as well.
