How do they make the apple logo on the backside of the iphone ? My idea is that they anodize the aluminum and then laser marking for the logo ???

I don't have a phone to examine, but your image makes it look smooth and polished. Laser etchings are often quite rough.
My guess would be they mask off everything but the logo area, then electro-polish to get the glossy logo.
What is the case made of? If it is aluminum it would quickly oxidize, so perhaps the logo is then plated with nickel.

Just my guess.

I always thought it was laser marked because of its slight roughness.

The shiny logo is nothing more than a metal slug inlay glued to the inside of the back. Depending on the model they can be replaced with LED backlit logos illuminated by a connection to the screen backlight fuse.
