In order to create a roll of mesh like in the first image, it might be better to not start by creating a flat mesh. Inventor allows bending of parts, but not along a spiral path as far as I know. That mesh roll is, after all, essentially a spiral.
I would find it easier to create the bent wires of the mesh roll as a spiral, then add the perpendicular wires as a pattern along the path of the spiral itself.
Please see the attached IPT file to understand my solution. I'm sure there are many other ways of obtaining the same result, but this was quick and simple.
On a lighter note, this Scottish joke comes to mind:
Visitor to a village stops a local and asks, "How do I get to Aberdeen from here?"
Local answers, "Och, if I were going to Aberdeen, I wouldnae start from here!"
