How to change your plane of refernece after assembly is made? Is is possible?

Sometimes I assemble a part and the plane of refernece is weird because the first I part I pull in references the normal that is not the natural normal of the object. If that makes sense?!? What I am trying to say is the the assmbly will appear to lay on its side because the first part I pulled in references the normal of its sketch and its sketch is not parrallel or perpenicular with the ground so the object lays sideways to the x, y and z plane. Its a big problem because I am using the sheetmetal feature a lot and making angled parts. I know that If I thought about it and pulled in a clever part to start the assembly this would not be a problem.
