How to convert SolidWorks model to 3d Studio max (Nurbs to Subd)
Happy new year, everyone!
I'm looking for a way to convert SW model to 3dS max. As i have read the two programs use different "platforms" for model building - NURBS models are based on mathematical equations, while SUBD on polygons. Is there a CAD software that is capable of this conversion? Or use a common file format that both software apps use - (i.e. obj)? I'll be very happy if someone can help me with a solution to this problem.
Thank you for your time, guys.
Jeff, I tried exporting to obj (used Free Solidworks OBJ Exporter v2.0), and importing to 3ds, but it's not even close to the original model. Maybe I'm not doing it right. I've have a partial success with STL format - the models are almost the same, but very heavy as files (too many polygons for such small test models).
AIT OUFKIR YASSINE, I'll give it a try tonight and let you know for the result.
Thank you both once again.
AIT OUFKIR YASSINE, Rhino does the conversion perfectly. Thank you for your help.
But now I'm facing another issue - I can't edit the model in 3ds like a normal 3dsmax file, because it's not built of polygons and can be used only for a base for retopology, which is almost the same as creating the model in 3ds from a scratch. (Maybe this is the point where I have to mention that I don't know how to work with 3ds and I'm referring to a friend of mine).
I've read that Maya can transform Nurbs model to polygons, but I haven't tried it out. I would be very grateful if someone can enlighten me on this topic. :)
Yes Plamen, That's happend with me also, but I Can edit my models in Cinema 4D, but the only problem that i have it's not a clean polygone, the segments are in everypart of my podel, and it's merged, I already saw that in Autodesk Maya you can Transforme it, so that i'm learning maya right now, Hope that your probleme solved,
