How to create beautiful renderings and animations that I see in the GrabCAD Challenges?

By E.Saung on 01 May 02:01 4 answers 3 comments

I'm relatively new to GrabCAD challenges, and am constantly amazed at what people can do. I'm used to copying and pasting my CAD images for work on a powerpoint slide, but it's definitely very cut and dry.

Motion and rendering is completely new to me. I see a lot of submissions via GrabCAD challenge with beautiful renderings on a background (and with animations). Is this all done through the rendering software? Any way someone can explain the steps on how you would be able to create? Perhaps through Keyshot? or Photoview 360 (preferred)?

1.) How to render an animation (is this possible in photoview 360)?
2.) How to apply a background to animated motion? (is this through PPT?)
3.) Where to get a render of a 3D printed part? (sites)
4.) Steps on how YOU create your CAD presentations?

More specifcally, how one is able to create the animations seen in these submissions:
Da Vinci's Hammer
Leonardo Da Vinci's Odometer Mechanism

    1. Rendering an Animation is ofcourse possible in solidworks. Example attached.

    2. Adding a Background is quiet easy.

Just click on the button as mentioned to choose from several Backgrounds that you want to include in your Animation. You can also pick and put your own Image as Background.

    Hey, hello!
1.) How to render an animation (is this possible in photoview 360)?
I think it is possible to render animations in Photoview 360, i'm not familiar with it but i guess it is possible.
Certainly, you can do that through keyshot, it is very simple.

2.) How to apply a background to animated motion? (is this through PPT?)
I don't know how to do that in P360 but with keyshot that's quite simple. You just need to click on Environment and add the one you like the most, then you just need to apply materials to your model and then, add the animation through the animation wizard.

3.) Where to get a render of a 3D printed part? (sites)

Well you can do that here.
