CATIA V5: I would use the Developed Shapes tools to wrap/fold the 2D profile onto the cylindrical surface

Open the part file where you want to engrave the letters.

Switch to the Generative Shape Design Workbench:
- Go to Start > Shape > Generative Shape Design.

Create a Plane Tangent to the Circular Body:
- Use the Plane tool to create a plane tangent to the cylindrical surface where you want to engrave the text.
- Select the cylindrical surface and specify the location for the plane.

Create the Text:
- Use the Text tool in the Generative Shape Design workbench.
- Click on the plane you created and enter the text you want to engrave.
- Adjust the font, size, and position of the text as needed.

Project the Text onto the Cylindrical Surface:
- Use the Projection tool to project the text onto the cylindrical surface.
- Select the text as the element to project and the cylindrical surface as the support.

Switch to the Part Design Workbench:
- Go to Start > Mechanical Design > Part Design.

Create a Pocket or Groove:
- Use the Pocket or Groove tool to engrave the projected text into the cylindrical surface.
- Select the projected text as the profile and specify the depth of the engraving.

8. Finalize the Design:
- Check the engraving and make any necessary adjustments.

- Ensure the text is properly aligned and sized before projecting it onto the surface.
- Use the Wrap Surface feature if you want the text to wrap around the cylindrical body uniformly.

By following these steps, you can successfully engrave letters on a circular body in CATIA V5. Let me know if you need further clarification!
