I have a image file in jpg format .How to extract sketch from jpg image in solidworks?
There are two options that i know:
1- Import the image file as a sketch picture and then use splines and lines to extract the sketch. It will take time but will give the accurate results.
2- Use of Autotrace command. It can be found in the options>ad ins>Autotrace. But this will give the output sketch with respect to the quality of the image i.e. shadows, borders, brightness & contrast etc.
Hope it helps :)
I agree with Momin's answers. As a third option, I often use Vector Magic to convert images and lines to a DXF file that I can import into SolidWorks. It gives much better results when compared to the Autotrace add-in
I did use Wintopo quite a lot in the past. I have not used it in a few years, but Vector Magic does such a good job, I have not had to try any other programs. Both cost about the same, and both have demos available.
Or "wintopo" for windows
