I have a surf board model with rocker already, I want flatten it so I can cut it to the CNC, what command I will use to make it flat?
That's a tough one, I don't think there's any singe command to get what you're after, if I understand correctly.. You can't really flatten something that curves in multiple directions, it would need to tear and wrinkle in places to become flat I would think.
Cool model though, nice lofts. Rocker and Roll! I have a skateboard with rocker and roll, feet stay put real nice and it's just dead sexy. It's a longboard larry humu.
thank @robert, Im also building longboards and other boardsports..
It was a little unclear as to how the part was supposed to be made flat for cutting on a CNC... Wouldn't it be better to cut the curved part on a CNC?
But, if you have the premium version of SolidWorks 2015 or 2016, there is a new tool that will try to flatten surfaces with compound curvature.
Check the help file under Flatten Surface for a demonstration of a tennis shoe being flattened. I guess you could use this to help form the flat patterns that you might use to stitch the shoe from. Or it could be used to generate a decal that fits better of a curved surface?
I've never used the tool, but it may be what you are after.
thanks fred, yes i can cut the curved part on a cnc, but i want to make it flat so I can use less material....
