I would like to model the frame of a geodesic dome in NX. I want the model to contain an empty, rectangularly strutted geometry that matches a triangular geodesic.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a possible starting point because of the spherically patterned geometry, but I'm starting to think it may involve some basic coding in Matlab or some other programming language.
Please let me know if you know how to accomplish this or have any thoughts about the idea that I can help me move forward. Thanks.
Maybe you should try to project flat sketch to dome surface and after that extrude projected curves ?
That's sounds like a good way to start. I guess what gets me is how do I go about instancing that? It seems that NX is good at instancing features that are planar or cylindrical but not spherical. I think I need to be able to instance about the center of the geodesic while modulating both a theta and a phi angle.
