If you have CATIA V6, you can do this very easy with the Text app that's part of the Sketcher tool. But for some reason, Dassault never added this capability in CATIA V5, even though almost every other CAD system can do it.
But, here's how you can do in V5:
1. Make a new CATIA drawing and create the Text you want. It can be one or two letters, or an entire sentence or paragraph.
2. Save the CATIA drawilng with a DXF file type.
3. Open the DXF drawing in CATIA, and you will see the letters have been converted to a series of short lines.
4. Select all the letters and hit Copy
5. go to the CATPart file, and open a sketch. And Paste the copied letters into the sketch. You can move everything or scale it to make it larger or smaller.
6 use the sketch to make a Pad for embossed letters. Or make a Pocket for engraved letters.
I'm sure there are lots of videos on YouTube that will show you the same steps.
