How to work with derived parts in Solidworks 2011

By Marco Antonio Ianoni on 16 Dec 15:19 1 answer 0 comments

I need to insert in two different assemblies a sprocket having the same number of teeth but different bore sizes. I noticed that once my assemblies are finished, the latest assembly updates automatically having the bore size of the latest sprocket inserted. How to solve this assembly problem? I tried to work with derived parts but so far no success.

just "save as" the sprocket to a different part number, open saved as sprocket, then alter the bore to the required size. In an Assembly you would not want different sprockets with the same part number anyway.
