Nothing is easier like this. If you import a STEP-assembly, you will asked whether to save it as an (.asm)-file. Confirm this and you'll get all components respective sub-assemblies as "Import Features", which are unfortunately parametrically not changeable. For closing a hole in a component open this part in a new window and handle it as a native (.prt). Now make a protrusion, using the hole geometry as sketch reference and fill the hole by this way. Attention: the "Import Feature" must always be a solid. Other wise there is no chance to do this.
