Lofted cut Error Two bodies created
This has been driving me nuts for the past couple of hours. The nature of the column is so that all curves profiles and guide curve are projected on the surface. when I do a loft cut I get the option of selecting which body to keep. But when I pattern it I get this. How do I fix this? The loft cut is creating a surface in front where its supposed to cut.

Try geometry pattern. Although if you have multiple bodies, you have to make sure the correct bodies are selected when creating the pattern.
In such cases I would have created lofted bodies and then circular patterned them (without merging them, So we have multiple bodies). Now Subtract the bodies using Combine feature and you have achieved what you wanted :D
the column is not straight mate i curves so you can not cut with revolve cut. but your efforts I appreciated. they way I cut is with two circles and projected curve on surface
you can also use indent feature
just make the pattern you want and indent it
you can also use wrap feature to first deboss and then apply fillet
