my only cad experience is solidworks,, in solidworks to offset a extrusion from a surface the option is in the extrusion panel,,but nx9 extrusion panel has offset but its offset in thickness,,,so ive been using the command offset surface and then extruding to that offset surface and then hiding said offset,, is this the right way ,,seems like its an extra step,, thanx for the help

I mean if you want to give thickness to the profile you can directly give offset value as thickness which you want. i.e., start:0 end:6 so thickness that you have given is 6 to that curve,
This is time saving and correct procedure to give thickness to the profile you created.
no i wanted it away from an object,, i want the extrusion say 20 mm away from another face,, thanx for your reply
