Does anyone know why my rub rail is behaving like this? I've tried everything from sweep to loft between two profiles with the project curve serving as guide curve... but no matter what I do it just doesn't get smooth! I'm suspecting it might be because of some sharp angle between the profile and the path (curve) at the bow area, but the trouble is; the shape of the original (Hydrolift C33 Cab) is exactly like that. So, is there a workaround?
Try changing the Image Quality Slider:
Renderings should not be affected by image quality settings. It was just the first thing that came to mind when seeing how rough the screenshot looked. I don't think you have them in SW2014, but the new Style Splines can help with keeping the curvature combs smooth. In 2014, your best option might be to use as few spline points as possible.
Thanks. It helped a little, but not enough. Besides, the rendered files look equally uneven. Renderings usually don't get affected by Image Quality Settings, do they?
To use the 2 profiles, you must make a loft, not a sweep

I do not see anything strange, lofting and also sweeping follow the guide curves very well. The file is SW 2015
Sorry I thought I sent a file, see sldprt file
Sorry, I haven't had time to follow up until now... Just discovered I couldn't open the file you sent. My SW is 2014 - 2015. Might be a problem with compatibility?t
Yes, I know. I've made use of both loft and sweep a zillion times, but I've never encountered anything like this before. I couldn't quite see it clearly from your picture, but isn't there something weird going on at one of the ends of the "bar", towards skecth 19?
