A cylinder or truncated cone is very easily set in SW2014.
1 - Draw a sketch for the revolved boss.
2- Make a revolved boss on of 359.5 deg. a little to late to detail was not uniform.
3 - insert -> sheet metal -> bends. specify the edge of the cylinder gap. Click OK ! anything more you need not enter.
In the tree you will see a scan of your model of the cylinder.
the solution I found was instead using an arc (359 deg) to split the arc into few sections and use lines where the bends would be. Solidworks has no limitations to bend the material where the lines are. So in total I have 5 arcs and 4 lines. This workaround has a minimal impact on the overall diameter of the metal cylinder.
Hi Plamen. Did you find solution.Do you recorganize?
Thank you for your input.
My steps were exactly the same when designing the cylinder. The issue I'm facing is after the cylinder is done.
Please look at the image in my initial post - I need to make 4 bends like the one marked with blue on the picture but there seems so be limitations in SW when it comes to bends on a circular surface.
